Mankweng, also known as Turfloop, is a township about 30 km east of Polokwane on the R71 toward Tzaneen, set in the foothills of the Wolkberg.
It grew from the 1960s around what is now the University of Limpopo's Turfloop Campus, and student life still shapes it: the area is busy year-round and well supplied with the Paledi Mall and Turfloop Plaza shopping centres.
Housing ranges from university accommodation and student rentals to established township homes and newer developments.
For businesses it offers a large, youthful catchment anchored by the university.
